Westmeath band The Academic played two surprise pop-up acoustic performances at Irish train stations on Wednesday to help young - and old - Irish students who are on their first day of the Leaving Cert and Junior Cert.
The first show was at Daly Station in Bray, Co Wicklow this morning and the band then played the second gig at lunchtime at Heuston station in Dublin .
We kicked our morning off on the right track with @TheAcademic at Bray Dart station 🙌 If you missed the guys, fear not - we're hitting another @IrishRail station in the city from 1.15pm this afternoon. Keep your eyes peeled! 👀✌️ #LeavingCert #TheAcademic pic.twitter.com/EbNJaN2unR

The Academic, who supported the Rolling Stones at Croke Park last summer, were aiming to help exam sitters' train of thought and to cheer students travelling to and from exams with the impromptu gigs.

The band with the educational name scored a No. 1 with their debut album Tales From The Backseat in January of last year and release new song Superlike this Friday.
