Game of Thrones star Iain Glen has praised his co-star Emilia Clarke for being "amazing" and "strong" through her brain aneurysm battles while filming the series.

Last month Clarke opened up to fans about suffering two life-threatening brain aneurysms after filming her first season as Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones.

Her co-star Glen, who plays Jorah Mormont on the show, told Entertainment Tonight that Clarke went "through the mill" following her health scares.

"I mean, she's such an amazing lady, and she was so strong, but she had real scares." he said.

He added, "I think when you sort of come out the end of something like that, everything must feel golden.

"I think the Thrones family were great with her. I hope she'd say that, but they shepherded her and looked after her as much as they could."

Clarke took to Instagram this week to thank her fans for their support after she made her health revelations in  a feature for The New Yorker, coinciding with the launch of her SameYou charity which aims to support young people with brain injuries.

''Hi everyone. I had to put a video up to say thank you. The response from my story has been overwhelming and deeply and profoundly moving, so thank you so much," Clarke said.

Game of Thrones returns to Sky Atlantic for it's eighth and final season on Monday, April 15 at 2.00am and 9.00pm.
