The countdown is well and truly on for the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, and it has now been confirmed that the new episodes will be aired in Ireland at the exact same time as North America.

Carrying on from previous seasons, a spokesperson for Sky has confirmed that the show will be simulcast so that viewers in Ireland can watch the show at the same time as viewers watch on HBO in the US.

This means that hardcore fans on Irish shores can stay up until the early hours of Monday morning to catch the new episodes.

It's the best possible way to avoid spoilers, hurray!

The live simulcast of the first episode will begin at 2am on Monday, April 15. Alarms at the ready!

If you don't fancy a middle of the night viewing, the episode will also be airing on Sky Atlantic at 9pm that evening.

A new trailer for the final season of Game of Thrones was released last week and hints at the dramatic climactic battle between the living and the White Walkers, led by the menacing Night’s King.

The final season runs until May 19 and will be made up of six feature-length episodes.
