TV star Luke Perry, who has starred in Beverly Hills, 90210 and Riverdale has reportedly suffered a stroke.

A spokesman for the 52-year-old actor told the Press Association that Perry is "currently under observation at the hospital."

According to TMZ, paramedics responded to his home in Sherman Oaks, California on Wednesday morning and he was transported to a nearby hospital.

Perry is best known for playing Dylan McKay in the teen show Beverly Hills, 90210 and is currently starring as Archie's father Fred Andrews in Riverdale.

The news of his hospitalisation comes a day after it was confirmed the cast of Beverly Hills, 90210 will reunite for a reboot of the 90s hit.

Perry or her former co-star Shannen Doherty haven't been confirmed for the new series, but Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Brian Austin Green, Tori Spelling and Ian Ziering have all signed on to the show.

Doherty took to Instagram to show support for her friend by posting a caption-less Instagram of the two hugging during their time on the teen drama together.
