The eight-minute film for Meáchan Rudaí (The Weight of Things) was made by noted filmmaker Tom Kalin and the song is based on lyrics from the late Liam Ó Muirthile, the poet, novelist and RTÉ broadcaster, who died in May 2018 at the age of 68.
The track is taken from the band's new album, The Gloaming 3, which was produced by band member Thomas Bartlett, and recorded in New York at Reservoir Studios last Autumn.
The band are due to play another of their annual National Concert Hall residencies in Dublin on March 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th, 10th, and 11th.
The Gloaming have also announced that from 2020 they will be taking a break to explore different musical projects.
