Ariana Grande has disputed the Grammys' explanation as to why she is not performing at the music awards show in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

Grande hit back on social media after Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich was quoted as saying that the singer could not perform at the awards because it was "too late for her to pull something together".

"As it turned out when we finally got the point where we thought maybe it would work, she felt it was too late for her to pull something together for sure," the Associated Press quoted Ehrlich as saying. "And it's too bad. She's a great artist. And I'd love to get her in the show this year."

"I can pull together a performance over night [sic] and you know that, Ken," Grande responded on Twitter. "It was when my creativity & self expression was stifled by you, that I decided not to attend. I hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more."

Ariana Grande is nominated for two awards at the Grammys

"I offered 3 different songs," she continued. "It's about collaboration. It's about feeling supported. It's about art and honesty. Not politics. Not doing favors or playing games. It's just a game y'all.. And I'm sorry but that's not what music is to me."

Grande is nominated for two Grammys this year, Best Pop Vocal Performance for God Is a Woman and Best Pop Vocal Album for Sweetener. Her new album, Thank U, Next, is released today.

Acts set to perform at this year's Grammys include Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Cardi B, Diana Ross, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello.

The Grammys take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday night and will be show on RTÉ2 on Monday at 9:30pm.
