R Kelly has deleted a tweet announcing a new tour following a backlash on social media.
The R&B singer, who has faced fresh allegations of sexual abuse which he denies, received condemnation after tweeting on Tuesday (February 5) that he planned to tour across Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka.
He wrote: "NEW TOUR ALERT Australia | New Zealand | Sri Lanka see y'all soon!"
No dates were announced in the post.
The tweet has now been deleted after people on Twitter urged fans not to buy tickets for the tour and criticised the announcement.
The musician is the subject of a Lifetime documentary, Surviving R Kelly.
It is a six-part series in which women share their allegations of sexual and physical assault. He has denied the allegations.
Following the broadcast of Surviving R Kelly in the US, Lady Gaga apologised for working with the singer.
R Kelly's record label, Sony BMG, has parted ways with him.
