A Gossip Girl reboot could be in the works, with a television executive from the network that aired the series confirming discussions have taken place about bringing it back.

The teen drama series was made by The CW in the US and followed the lives of privileged upper-class teenagers living in Manhattan's Upper East Side, played by Blake Lively, Ed Westwick, Leighton Meester and Chace Crawford.

It aired from 2007 to 2012, and could be making a comeback with The CW president Mark Pedowitz saying, "There's been discussions. But I don't know if we're there yet."

Pedowitz said any potential return would depend on Warner Bros as well as show creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, according to reports in Deadline.

It is expected that the reboot would feature an entirely new cast of characters should it return.
