The Recording Academy have released a statement following the alleged leak of the Grammy winners for the 2019 ceremony, saying there is "no legitimacy" to the information.

Twitter user @mainpopdata uploaded a list of claimed winner's names, including Kendrick Lamar, Drake and Taylor Swift, ahead of next month's Grammys.

They claim the information came from gaining access to an archived version of a web page on the Grammys' official site.

The Recording Academy, who administer the Grammys, discredited the leak by saying there is no way anyone could have access to the winner's information.

"There is no legitimacy to this," their statement reads.

"Grammy Awards results are not shared, even with Recording Academy staff members, until the day of the Grammy Awards ceremony, when names of the recipients are delivered by Deloitte in sealed envelopes."

Kendrick Lamar leads the way in the Grammy nominations with nods in eight categories.

The American rapper swept the board at last year's ceremony after the release of his acclaimed record DAMN., winning best rap album, music video, rap song, rap performance and rap/sung performance.

This year he is nominated for his work on the Black Panther soundtrack.

Drake has seven Grammy nominations

Meanwhile, Canadian rapper Drake follows closely behind with seven nominations, including song of the year for God's Plan.

He will compete with Lamar in the hotly-contested Album of the Year category with his chart-topping release Scorpion.

The album of the year race also includes Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy, Janelle Monáe’s Dirty Computer, Kacey Musgraves’s Golden Hour, Brandi Carlile’s By the Way, I Forgive You and Post Malone’s Beerbongs & Bentleys.

Cardi B has five nods

Folk singer Brandi Carlile has bagged six nominations, while Lady Gaga, Childish Gambino (Donald Glover's musical alter-ego) and Cardi B each have five.

The Recording Academy also gave a nod to the late rapper Mac Miller, with a nomination for Best Rap Album for his final record Swimmer.

The Grammys will take place on February 10 in Los Angeles.
