The Punisher star Jon Bernthal and The Front Runner's Vera Farmiga are reported to have joined the cast of the upcoming Sopranos prequel film, The Many Saints of Newark.
Variety, which first reported the actors' casting, says no details of the duo's roles have been revealed and that production company New Line, which is making the film, could not be reached for comment on the news.

The Many Saints of Newark, which has been written by Sopranos creator David Chase and one of the series' writers, Lawrence Konner, is set during the race riots in Newark, New Jersey in 1967 and has Game of Thrones and The Sopranos director Alan Taylor behind the lens.
Taylor directed nine episodes of The Sopranos from 1999 to 2007. He also directed episodes of seasons one, two and seven of Game of Thrones.

Bernthal and Farmiga are joining Alessandro Nivola in the film, with the Face/Off actor playing the role of Dickie Moltisanti, the father of Sopranos character Christopher and the uncle of Tony Soprano.
Christopher and Tony were played in the series by Michael Imperioli and the late James Gandolfini respectively.
