Neil Young has paid tribute to his former wife Pegi Young, who passed away last week after battling cancer.
"Thanks Pegi, for being such a wonderful mother to our children," Neil wrote in a piece on his Archives website. "You live inside of them and the many you have touched."
The couple met when Pegi was working as a waitress at an eatery close to Young’s Broken Arrow Ranch near Half Moon Bay in California where the singer has lived for many decades. He wrote many songs dedicated to Pegi, including the quintessentially blissed-out Harvest Moon.
The couple married in 1978 and had two children together, Ben and Amber. After almost 40 years of marriage and many love songs dedicated to her, the Canadian singer and musician filed for divorce from Pegi in 2014. Young, who is 72, married 57-year old actress Darryl Hannah last year.
