Coronation Street actor Richard Hawley, who plays Johnny Connor in the ITV soap, has said he is hopeful his character's marriage to Jenny Bradley can be saved, despite all the end-of-year drama in Weatherfield.
Fans have seen Johnny admitting to having an affair with Liz McDonald (Beverley Callard) and Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) struggling to cope after the bombshell.
The Christmas Day episode saw a drunk Jenny getting behind the wheel and hitting Liz as she sped off.
Now Johnny is set to take the blame, leaving viewers wondering if this is part of a desperate attempt to reconcile with Jenny.

"I think they can save their marriage," actor Hawley told The Press Association. "They'll save it because they want to work hard on it. The question is: what are you saving?
"Are you saving something that's honest or are you saving some unresolved stuff to be dealt with?
"What's happening is it's all coming out and we know where we are with it, so we're saving something that's less burdened than before."
As for the other person in the love triangle, Hawley said Liz has "a lot of reasons to hate Johnny".

"I don't think him getting the benefit of her letting him off would change his feelings for Liz because he's deeply fond of her," he continued. "They're friends but it's all gone wrong. There is no chance for them getting together at the moment."
Coronation Street airs on Virgin Media One and ITV on Friday December 28, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
