Continuing his farewell tour, 71-year old Elton John has told his Dallas fans that he has enjoyed "an amazing, amazing life "
The veteran singer was performing the first of two sold-out shows on Friday night in the Texas city as part of the three-year Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour.
The Dallas Observer reviewer mentioned a poignant farewell while welcoming "one helluva send-off."
"It was very hard to put together a set-list," the musician told his fans. "If I left out your favorite song, I apologise."
"It’s been an amazing, amazing life I’ve had, " he continued.
"Ask any musician, and they’ll tell you: The greatest thing you can do is play for another human being and get a reaction.
"You have given me the most incredible experiences of my life. Thank you."
The 24-song setlist included opener Bennie and the Jets, along with I Guess That’s Why They Call It the Blues, Indian Sunset, All the Girls Love Alice, Take Me to the Pilot, Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding, Border Song - from the very first album, released in 1970 - along with the crowd-pleasers, Rocket Man and Crocodile Rock.
John is playing dates in Dublin and Belfast in 2020 as part of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.
