Colin Farrell has been cast opposite Matthew McConaughey in Guy Ritchie's all-star crime-drama Toff Guys.

Entertainment trade publication The Hollywood Reporter says Farrell is joining a cast that also includes Hugh Grant, Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery and Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding.

The film is described as a return to Ritchie's roots in the films Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch

Toff Guys tells the story of a businessman (McConaughey) who has built a marijuana empire but wants to leave it behind.

Dockery is set to play the wife of McConaughey's character, with Farrell playing a mixed martial arts trainer called Coach.

Grant has been cast as a blackmailing photographer, with Golding playing a gangster.

Production on the film has already begun.

Farrell can currently be seen on cinema screens in the thriller Widows. McConaughey's new film, the true crime story White Boy Rick, opens in cinemas next Friday, December 7.
