The Cure and Metallica gigs set to clash next June

In what has already been a big day for gig announcements, The Cure have lined up a date in Dublin - on the same day that Metallica are set to rock Slane Castle.

Music fans with a broad taste in music may face a dilemma as both the metal behemoths and the goth god heads play Ireland on June 8 next year. 

The Cure announced their upcoming Irish show in a tweet on Monday evening and there has been speculation that the band will play the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Kilmainham.  

The Cure last played Ireland in 2012 as the headline act on the Saturday night of Electric Picnic. Metallica last played Ireland in 2009 with a gig in Marlay Park in Dublin. 

The Cure celebrated their 40th anniversary in July with a special show in London’s Hyde Park and they also curated and played at this year’s Meltdown Festival.

The band are have been planning their 2019 gig itinerary and hope to play up to 20 festivals next year.

Fans have been responding to the news of a long-awaited Irish Cure gig with delight. 

However, fans of both bands have decried the gig clash.
