The setlist at the city's Mercedes-Benz Arena spanned U2's career, with I Will FollowBeautiful Day, Sunday Bloody SundayVertigo and One among the favourites performed on the night.

Sentiment and spectacle once again to the fore

Friday night's show also saw the live debut of Summer of Love, a track from the band's 2017 album, Songs of Experience.

The wow factor walkabout

As on the North American leg of the tour, there were no songs from The Joshua Tree - the band's 30th anniversary shows last summer to mark the record's release saw them perform the classic album in full.

U2 lined up two shows at Berlin's Mercedes-Benz Arena

U2 play Belfast's SSE Arena on October 27 and 28. They wrap up their European Tour at Dublin's 3Arena on November 5, 6, 9 and 10.

The Belfast and Dublin shows are in late October and early November
