Gardaí have issued a warning to people going to Electric Picnic this weekend to take care to make sure they are not buying forged tickets as some fake print-at-home tickets are being sold online.

Electric Picnic takes place in Stadbally, Co Laois from Friday, 31 August to Sunday, 2 September, and gardaí have warned fans buying tickets to the sold-out festival through unofficial means that the print-at-home format is not being used for the festival this year.

They have also warned against the use of third-party websites selling tickets to the festival.

Kendrick Lamar will headline the festival on the Friday night

Detective Chief Superintendent Pat Lordan, of the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau said: "We are working closely with the organisers to prevent fans being left disappointed by the activities of criminals.

"It is important to stress that the print-at-home format is not being used for Electric Picnic and that the public only buy tickets from authorised sources."

The first wave of stage times for the festival, which boasts Kendrick Lamar, Massive Attack and The Prodigy among its headliners, have been released today ahead of the annual event.
