EastEnders star Shaheen Jafargholi has joined Casualty following the tragic death of his character Shakil in Albert Square.
Digital Spy, which first reported Jafargholi's casting, says he will play a new nurse, Marty, in Casualty and will make his debut in the series this Autumn.
Fans of the BBC medical drama have been told that Marty will be in for a rude awakening when he begins work.
"It's been a whirlwind few weeks, moving to Cardiff, getting my head into a brand new character and meeting the super lovely and welcoming cast and crew," said Jafargholi. "I'm super excited as I have been a fan of the series for years, so to get to be a part of it is fantastic."
Jafargholi was at the centre of EastEnders' big storyline this year when his character Shakil was fatally stabbed.
Casualty continues on BBC One on Saturday nights.
