The Winner Takes It All – ABBA's classic songs have been given new life with the Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again soundtrack, and the album has sailed to the top of the Irish album chart.

The soundtrack, which features Cher performing Fernando and Meryl Streep giving her take on My Love, My Life, includes 18 ABBA songs and the fans are clearly loving the new takes on the classics.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again producer Judy Craymer said the news is "fantastic".

"It is fantastic news that the soundtrack to Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again has gone to Number 1," she told OfficialCharts.com.

"It’s the celebration of our wonderful cast featuring Christine Baranski, Pierce Brosnan, Dominic Cooper, Colin Firth, Andy Garcia, Lily James, Amanda Seyfried, Stellan Skarsgård, Julie Walters and Meryl Streep - and of course Cher, singing Fernando."

Pierce Brosnan is singing again in the follow-up to Mamma Mia!

ABBA's back catalogue is also having a surge, with the soundtrack to Mamma Mia! back in at number seven and ABBA Gold – Greatest Hits at number eight.

Over in the singles chart, George Ezra's Shotgun takes the top spot for the fifth week in a row, with Drake's In My Feelings enjoying a second week at number two.
