Al Pacino joins Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

Al Pacino is joining the stellar cast of Quentin Tarantino's upcoming film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which is set at the time of the Manson Family's Tate and LaBianca murders in 1969.

Variety, which first reported Pacino's casting, says the screen legend will play Marvin Shwarz, the agent of Leonardo DiCaprio's character, Rick Dalton.

The cast of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood also includes Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Burt Reynolds, Damian Lewis, Dakota Fanning, Emile Hirsch, Luke Perry and Timothy Olyphant.

Billed by writer-director Tarantino as "probably the closest to Pulp Fiction that I've done", Once Upon a Time in Hollywood centres on Rick Dalton (DiCaprio), the former star of a Western series; and his stunt double, Cliff Booth (Pitt). Both are struggling in the new Hollywood, but Dalton has a famous neighbour, the actress Sharon Tate (portrayed by Robbie).

Sharon Tate, who was pregnant, and four friends were murdered at her Los Angeles home by members of the Manson Family on August 8, 1969. The following night members of the Manson Family murdered supermarket executive Leno LaBianca and his wife Rosemary in Los Angeles. 

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will open on August 9, 2019, the 50th anniversary of the LaBianca murders and the day after the 50th anniversary of the Tate murders.
