Anne Hathaway has hit out at body shamers as she trains to put on weight for an upcoming role.

The Les Misérables Oscar winner posted a training video on Instagram on Thursday and wrote: "I am gaining weight for a movie role and it is going well.

"To all the people who are going to fat shame me in the upcoming months, it's not me, it's you. Peace xx."

She later added: "I wanted to set this to Queen's 'Fat Bottomed Girls' but copyright said no. Continued peace xx."

Hathaway did not say which film she is in training for, but US entertainment trade publication The Hollywood Reporter said that the star's upcoming schedule is reported to include the sci-fi thriller O2; an adaptation of the Joan Didion novel The Last Thing He Wanted and a remake of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels with Rebel Wilson.
