In what may not be considered shock news, U2 are the richest entertainers in Ireland with a combined wealth of €647 million, according to the 2018 Sunday Times Irish Rich List.
Colm Murphy, compiler of the annual list, said: "42 years on from their formation, U2 continue to carry everything before them, chalking up new records in the past year as a result of both their sheer longevity and their sustained brilliance."
"Of course, this weekend’s Rich List provides insight beyond just the fields of music, film, television and entertainment, where the Irish traditionally excel. It provides a definitive picture of wealth across the island of Ireland."
Mark Burnett and Roma Downey from MGM Television landed in second place with €443 million, while Lord of the Dance star, Michael Flatley, completes the Top 3 with a personal fortune of €230 million.

At 24, Niall Horan is once again the only person under 40 on the Richest Entertainers List, and has secured his place with an estimated €52 million, with an €8 million gain from last year.

Irish entertainers including Graham Norton (€38 million), Pierce Brosnan (€72 million), Bob Geldof (€42 million), and Liam Neeson (€113 million) also feature on the new list, which examines the wealth of the 300 richest individuals and families in Ireland across entertainment, sport, business, technology and construction.
Enya ranks 6th on the list - shes now worth €118 million, up one million on last year, while country crooner Daniel O’Donnell comes in on the list at number 20 with a personal fortune of €31 million.
The 2018 Sunday Times Irish Rich List will be published this weekend in a dedicated 32-page supplement.
