Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway get second chance at presenting at the Oscars

Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway will be given a second chance at presenting the Oscar for Best Picture this year, following on from last year’s mix-up which saw Dunaway announce La La Land as the winner instead of Moonlight.

The pair are said to have been rehearsing for the big moment in Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre ahead of Sunday night’s ceremony, with Beatty reported to have cracked a joke during a run-through, announcing Gone with the Wind as the winner.

As the Bonnie and Clyde co-stars were standing at the microphone about the announce the winner at last year’s ceremony, there was confusion as Beatty looked at the envelope, with Dunaway then taking over announcing duties and calling out for La La Land.

Moments later it was revealed that Moonlight was the actual winner of the Oscar, and it transpired that Beatty and Dunaway had been handed the wrong envelope - the one for the Best Actress category - by a PwC partner before taking to the stage.

Since the gaffe - one of the most shocking events in the history of the Academy Awards - Oscar organisers have adjusted their rules and regulations with regard to the envelopes containing the winners in a bid to make sure another similar issue does not arise in the future.

The Oscars take place in Hollywood on Sunday night. Click here for more Oscars news and analysis.
