Kim Cattrall has paid tribute to her late brother, Christopher Cattrall, who died unexpectedly earlier this month.

The Sex and the City star lit a candle in memory of her brother while visiting St Cuthbert's Church in Edinburgh.

"Thank you to St Cuthbert's Parish Minister in Edinburgh, Reverend Peter Sutton, and our wonderful, joyful Scottish friends for making us laugh today," the 61-year-old wrote on Instagram.

"Lighting a candle in memory of our brother, son, father and husband, Christopher Adrian Alexander Cattrall. Forever in our thoughts. RIP."

Cattrall announced the death of the "one of a kind"  Christopher earlier this month having earlier issued an appeal for help to find him.

"It is with great sadness that myself and my family announce the unexpected passing of our son and brother, Chris Cattrall. At this time we ask for privacy," she wrote.

Following her bereavement, Cattrall took issue with former Sex and the City co-star Sarah Jessica Parker offering her condolences, saying she did not need "your love or support".
