Jamie Dornan is set to join Brian Kirk's IRA action thriller, Borderland, which will focus on the conflict between the IRA and the British government in the '70s.
The 35-year-old Fifty Shades actor will star as an IRA operative on the hunt for an SAS captain (Sam Clafin) who accidentally shot his wife.
The movie is being described as being "in the vein of Michael Mann’s crime thriller Heat," according to entertainment website Screen Daily.
Production is tipped to commence this summer in London and Dublin.
Dornan can currently be seen playing Christian Grey for the final time in the third outing from the hugely successful Fifty Shades franchise.
He can next be seen in Robin Hood: Origins as Will Scarlett, the member of the Merry Men known for wearing fine clothes and as the best swordsmen of the motley crew.
Eve Hewson, who is the daughter of U2 frontman Bono and Ali Hewson, also stars in the origins movie, which is scheduled for release in September.
