Roddy Doyle's The Snapper is coming to the stage and will receive its world premiere at Dublin's Gate Theatre this summer with Simon Delaney playing the long-suffering father.
Speaking on RTÉ One's Today with Maura and Dáithí on Thursday, Delaney said: "I've seen the script; Roddy himself has written the script - so all the classic lines from the movie they're all in there.
"We're going to be running from the middle of June right through to the first of September."
Announcing that Delaney would be taking over the role made (in)famous onscreen by Colm Meaney, The Gate also revealed that Delaney would be joined onstage by Hilda Fay as Veronica, Kate Gilmore as Jackie, Amilia Stewart as Mary and Simon O'Gorman as local lothario Georgie Burgess.

The role of mum-to-be Sharon has yet to be cast.
First published in 1990, Roddy Doyle's The Snapper made the jump to the screen in 1993 with Colm Meaney and Tina Kellegher in the lead roles and Stephen Frears (Victoria and Abdul, Florence Foster Jenkins) behind the lens.
In 2016, Frears talked to RTÉ Entertainment about making The Snapper - and Georgie Burgess.
