Ed Sheeran has been named Spotify's most streamed artist in 2017 with a total of 6.3 billion streams replacing the Canadian rapper Drake who held the crown in 2016.

His album Divide also topped the most streamed album with 3.1 billion downloads on Spotify for 2017 with Shape of You being the most streamed song after 1.4 billion streams.

In third place of the most listened to was The Weeknd, fourth place Kendrick Lamar and fifth place The Chainsmokers. 

Despacito remix by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankees was the second most streamed song and the original version was the third most streamed song.

Ed Sheeran suffered a set back this week when he did not make the cut for Grammy Award nominations in the categories of best album, best song and record.
