Anna Faris has spoken about her relationship with her former partner Chris Pratt, saying they still "truly adore" one another.

The Hollywood couple shocked fans when they announced their separation on social media in August after eight years of marriage. Despite their split, 40-year-old actress Faris says they will always be a part of one each other's lives.

Speaking to US showbiz publication People, she said: "We'll always have each other and be incredible friends. There is still so much laughter in our lives together, and he is so proud of me, still."

The Mom actress went on to say that they still have great fun together, explaining: "We watched each other grow, and he still cracks me up all the time. And I think I crack him up - unless he's a really good actor and great at faking laughter."

Faris added that she and 38-year-old Jurassic World star Pratt, who are parents to five-year-old son Jack, still "love each other".

She said: "It's understandable that people seemed so invested in our happiness together. All I can say about that is, it's all true, that we truly adore each other, and we love each other, I think it still comes through."

The actress is gearing up to release her book Unqualified this month, which contains personal details about her life, including anecdotes about her romance with Pratt. The Guardians of the Galaxy actor also penned the foreword for the book.

Faris admitted the timing of the book hitting shelves isn't ideal, but is looking on the bright side. "At first I thought, 'Oh my gosh, this is crazy timing.' Now it sort of feels like maybe in a way everything that's happened helps bring it full circle", she said.

"I am so grateful that he contributed to the book. Chris and I are really great friends, and I think that we always will be."

The couple announced their split via a joint statement on Facebook and Twitter in August. It read: "We are sad to announce we are legally separating.

"We tried hard for a long time, and we're really disappointed. Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward.

"We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another."

The couple met in 2007 on the set of Take Me Home Tonight. They tied the knot in July 2009 and welcomed their son Jack in August 2012.
