Hozier has revealed that he has "a great deal" of his highly anticipated second album written and admits he is excited to share his new material with fans.
The 27-year-old Wicklow man, who has been on hiatus for almost a year, teased his upcoming record saying it's going to be "a mixed bag" of songs.
Speaking to 2fm's Eoghan McDermott, Hozier said: "It's on the way. I've much of a great deal of it written and demoed and a great deal of it arranged... but it's still in progress. I'm looking forward to it and I'm excited about it."
When asked what sound listeners can expect from his new work, he said that it's going to be dark yet fun, "It's a mixed bag. I think it will be dark but it will have a sense of humour to it and it will be fun too.
"I can't really describe it because I'm trying to pare down the songs I don't want, so it will be hard to pick what makes it in the end," he added.

Commenting on his overnight success with 2014's hit Take Me To Church, Hozier said he still feels uncomfortable with fame.
"I'm still trying to reconcile that aspect of it. It's easy for me to reconcile the song and I'm thrilled that the song did what it did and reached people, but reconciling being recognised by people can be odd, and took much longer to get used to.
"You go into something because you've music to make and you've songs you want to write and sing - and then there's everything else that follows...that is trickier," he said.
Hozier is taking part in a huge global refugee concert series called 'Give a Home' in Dublin on September 20.
He joins a line-up of hundreds of artists including Ed Sheeran who will perform all over the world for Amnesty International and Sofar Sounds.
