Ryan Phillippe has opened up about his ongoing struggle with depression and hopes talking about the subject will make it ''a lot less taboo''.
Speaking to Stellar magazine, the 42-year-old Cruel Intentions actor said: ''I have no shame. I was born with a certain issue that I have to struggle with, that I know millions of other people do, and all to varying degrees.
"To be open to talking about it, or acknowledging it, makes it a lot less taboo," he added.

The film star and ex-husband of Reese Witherspoon spoke to People magazine earlier this year about the same issue, and said he’s found different ways to deal with his mental health now than he had in his twenties and thirties.
"I wanted to be around [at home] as much as possible while my kids were still small,’ he admitted to People, hinting that his personal life helped him partially overcome his condition.
Phillippe and Witherspoon married in 1999, the year they had their first daughter, and separated in 2007. The pair have two children together, Ava, 17 and Deacon, 13.
The I Know What You Did Last Summer actor recently took to Twitter to shut down rumours that he is dating Katy Perry, and the pop superstar had a hilarious response.
