Stars have been reacting to Conor McGregor's loss against Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas, with Katie Taylor impressed by McGregor's "valiant effort" against the undefeated boxing champion.

The fight, which was McGregor's first ever professional boxing match, saw Mayweather win with a 10th round technical knockout.

Katie Taylor took to Twitter to congratulate Mayweather on his "remarkable legacy in the ring" while acknowledging McGregor's "valiant effort".

Niall Horan shared one of McGregor's post-match quotes with his Twitter followers, posting, "I'm just havin a buzz and if anyone wants a knock , give me a shout !"

Gary Lineker commended McGregor's "really brave effort" while actress Kat Dennings labelled hs performance a "triumph".

Freddie Prinze Jr. likened McGregor's move to boxing to Michael Jordan's baseball career saying, "Michael Jordan couldn't hit a curveball. Tonight's shouldn't be a surprise or a disappointment."

Johnny Knoxville posed that should Mayweather try his hand at MMA, he would not be able to stop The Notorious. "No way Mayweather lasts 30 seconds in an MMA bout," he tweeted.

Rosie Perez shared her congratulations with Mayweather while also giving "respect" to his opponent, while Frozen's Josh Gad joked that "Bono lost a lot of money tonight."

Nick Lachey labelled McGregor "one of the best entertainers in recent memory" with Bryan Greenberg saying he "showed heart".
