US network FX is downplaying fears that Fargo's recent third season is going to be its last - but a new run looks as far away as snowy Minnesota.
The Emmy Award-winning drama is one of FX's key shows, but its writer Noah Hawley is also one of Hollywood's busiest writers. He's currently tied-up with the second season of Legion and a Doctor Doom movie.
Speaking on Wednesday (August 10), FX president John Landgraf was keen to downplay any talk of Fargo coming to an abrupt end, although he admitted that nothing's on the table.
"We haven't heard the idea from Noah [Hawley] for what the fourth season would be," Landgraf admitted. "What we've encouraged Noah to do is think about it and make sure he has an idea he's excited about.
"There's at least some possibility he won't have that idea for quite some time. He has a really busy schedule because he's working actively on the second season of Legion... and he has a burgeoning feature film career.
"We're going to have to share him with our film studio and we're going to have to figure out how to make that work."

Back in June, Noah Hawley spoke about Fargo's future. While he was implying it wasn't over, it clearly isn't top of his 'must do' list.
"Please don't tell people this is the end," he said. "Right now, I just can't point to [a production start] date on the calendar. I always agreed with FX that the only reason to do another Fargo is if the creative is there.
"It took 15 months to get season two off the ground, and 18 months to get season three on the air. I have to turn my attention to the second season of Legion and a film potentially the winter after next.
"We're looking at three years from now."
