Miami Vice is set to make its small screen return after almost 30 years, with Vin Diesel the driving force behind the project.

The original Miami Vice series aired on NBC from 1984 to 1990, with a film version starring Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx released in 2006.

According to reports, Diesel will not star in the television remake, but he will produce it alongside Fast & Furious producer and writer Chris Morgan.

It is expected that the project will air in the 2018/19 TV season. It follows a string of recently announced reboots included Will & Grace, Roseanne and Dynasty.

There is also a surge in the number of small screen adaptations of films including Lethal Weapon, Taken, S.W.A.T., Training Day and MacGyver.
