Lorde has apologised for likening her friendship with Taylor Swift to having a friend with an autoimmune disease, saying the comments were "really insensitive".
Speaking about the challenges associated with being friends with someone as famous as Swift, 20-year-old Lorde said it was like dealing with "very specific allergies."
"It's like having a friend with very specific allergies," Lorde told The Guardian. "There are certain places you can't go together. Certain things you can't do."
"There are these different sets of considerations within the friendship. It's like having a friend with an autoimmune disease."
Lorde's comments were met with criticism online with one Twitter user labelling her remarks as "incredibly ignorant", asking fellow Swift squad member Selena Gomez what she thought of the analogy used. Gomez has previously opened up about her autoimmune disease lupus.
