Channing Tatum has written an emotional and empowering open letter to his three-year-old daughter Everly.
In a piece for Cosmopolitan magazine, the Magic Mike star wrote a letter imagining his daughter in her late teens or early 20s, when she is first exploring relationships and her sexuality.
In a touching tribute to his wife Jenna Dewan Tatum, the actor said he hoped their daughter will always be "her authentic self", just like her mother.
The 37-year-old Hollywood star reminisced on first meeting Jenna, saying her knew their "connection was really powerful" but he wasn't sure what the relationship was going to be.
"Then one day, Jenna just blurted out that she knew exactly what she wanted in life and she didn’t have to look for it anymore because it was me," he wrote. "She had no idea what I’d say or how I’d react, but that was her truth. I remember feeling this incredible rush - it was the sexiest thing she’d ever done for me."
The actor went on to say that her "radical authenticity" made him "fall head over heels in love" as she had accepted "every part of me, the good and the bad".
"And that’s what I want for my daughter - to be expectation-less with her love and not allow preconceived standards to affect her, to ask herself what she wants and feel empowered enough to act on it." he wrote.
Tatum went on to write that there is one thing that he thinks men wish women knew, and it's that "they alone are enough".
"When more women start to truly feel this power in themselves, the world will become so magical, it makes my head hurt." Tatum said.
The actor went on to applaud the breaking down of traditional gender roles, saying: "Women, especially, are realizing (sic) that they no longer have to conform to certain standards of social and sexual behavior (sic), and this changes what they need from men and the role of men in general."
"I want women to feel what it’s like to exist in a world where men really listen to them, where they treat them like goddesses, and where they can feel comfortable and proud to express the full force of their sexual energy together." he concluded.
Jenna Dewan Tatum recently spilled the beans on her first night with her husband after they met on the set of the 2006 romance-drama Step Up.
