Janet Jackson has confirmed that she and her husband Wissam Al Mana have split up, a few months after the birth of their baby.

In a candid short video posted to her official YouTube page, the singer announced the news.

"I just want to keep it real with you guys for a second", she said. "Yes, I separated from my husband.

"We are in court and the rest is in God's hands."

The 50-year-old singing sensation and her husband welcomed their first child, son Eissa Al Mana, in January.

Rumours that the couple had split began circulating last month

Jackson also said in the video that she would resume her tour on September 7, which she postponed in April last year, saying it was on account of "planning our family".

"I am continuing my tour, as I promised", she said with a smile. "I'm so excited you guys, so excited."

She also revealed that she had changed the name of the tour from Unbreakable, to State of the World Tour. "It's not about politics, it's about people, the world, relationships, and just love", Jackson added.

The couple welcomed their son in January

Jackson also gave her fans an update on their son. "I thank God for him. He's so healthy, so beautiful, so sweet, so loving - such a happy baby," she said.

Jackson concluded the video by thanking her fans for their "patience, for all of your support of the years".

The singer-songwriter married the Qatari businessman in 2012 and their son was born on January 3 this year.

42-year-old Al Mana is CEO of the multinational Al Mana business conglomerate. He is estimated to be worth approximately €934 million, which is believed to be at least four times Jackson’s net worth.
