The FBI has said it is gathering information about an alleged incident involving Brad Pitt on a private aircraft carrying the star and his children.
The agency issued a statement following allegations that the actor had an altercation with one of his children during a flight from France to the US on September 14.
Pitt's wife Angelina Jolie filed for divorce on Monday, citing irreconcilable differences. She has asked for physical custody of the couple's six children.

In a statement the FBI said it "is continuing to gather facts and will evaluate whether an investigation at the federal level will be pursued".
The agency gave no further details about the allegations but it said the incident being investigated was within US aircraft jurisdiction, "specifically, an aircraft carrying Mr. Brad Pitt and his children".

On Thursday, the Los Angeles Police Department said it was "not handling any reports or allegations" involving the actor.
