Domhnall Gleeson is set to star opposite Saturday Night Live favourite Will Forte in A Futile and Stupid Gesture, the new Netflix film which tells the story of the American satirical magazine National Lampoon.
Entertainment trade website Deadline.com, which first reported Gleeson's casting, says that the Dublin actor will play National Lampoon boss Henry Beard, with Forte playing co-founder Doug Kenney.

Role Models director David Wain is behind the lens for the film which has been adapted from Josh Karp's book A Futile and Stupid Gesture: How Doug Kenney and National Lampoon Changed Comedy Forever.
After a great year with Ex Machina, Brooklyn, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Revenant on his CV, Gleeson is currently working on Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is due to film scenes in Ireland in May.

Next January, he will be seen opposite Tom Cruise in the true story thriller Mena, and he also stars alongside The Vampire Diaries' Nina Dobrev in the upcoming romantic comedy Crash Pad.
