It has been revealed that Nick Grimshaw will not be returning to The X Factor this year, and the radio host has now spoken about his decision to leave, saying he isn't "storming" out of the show.
Speaking on his Radio 1 breakfast show, he said: "I did love it and it's not a diss to the show. It's a great show and I loved it. But it's definitely a once in a lifetime style thing.
"This isn't me storming out of X Factor being like, 'Screw you, Cheryl'."
He went on to joke that the reason he decided to leave is because you "can't have a curry when you're on it on a Saturday night, because you're there.
"What's really good about X Factor is watching it at your house with your friends [and] having a curry. When you're there, there's no curry. Simon promised me curry."
There are doubts over Caroline Flack's status on the judging panel too. The long-running series has suffered from declining ratings of late, and is now shaking up its judging panel and hosts for the upcoming autumn run.
A spokesperson from The X Factor said: "Nick was a great mentor on last year's series. He did a fantastic job with the boys' category and we'd like to thank him for all his hard work. We are sad to see him go but wish him all the best.
"Details for the new series of The X Factor are still being discussed and will be announced in due course."
Grimshaw's representative said that he had made the decision to leave, telling The Sun: "After careful consideration, Nick's decided to rule himself out as a judge on this year's X Factor.
"He loved working on last year's series alongside Rita, Cheryl and Simon but it was very much a once-in-a-lifetime experience. He remains a massive fan of the show and is looking forward to watching it this year."
It is been reported by The Sun that Caroline Flack has been axed from the show by Simon Cowell.
X-Factor stalwart Louis Walsh and One Direction star Louis Tomlinson have both been rumoured to be taking a place on the judging panel for the autumn series.
