Irish director Kirsten Sheridan is set to make a biopic of Amy Winehouse, with The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo star Noomi Rapace in talks to play the late soul singer.
British film industry website Screen Daily, which broke the story, says that Sheridan has also written the script for the film. Dublin company Subotica Films will be among the producers.
Negotiations are currently taking place for the music rights for the film, which will be looking to repeat the box office success of this year's documentary about Winehouse, Amy.
Rapace played Stieg Larsson's best-selling hero Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish-made films of the Dragon Tattoo trilogy, earning widespread acclaim for the intensity of her breakout performance.
Her other credits include Prometheus and The Drop, and she is also set to play another tragic singer in an upcoming biopic, Greek soprano Maria Callas.

Sheridan previously directed Dollhouse, August Rush and Disco Pigs. She was Oscar-nominated along with her director father Jim and sister Naomi for the script to their 2002 film In America.
