It was a big night for Taylor Swift at this year's MTV VMAs

Taylor Swift was the big winner at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night, taking home four of the most high profile awards including Video of the Year and Best Female Video.

Swift's video for Blank Space scooped two trophies; Best Pop Video and Best Female Video, while her star-studded Bad Blood music video, featuring Kendrick Lamar, was named Video of the Year and Best Collaboration.

Swift was joined on stage to accept the Video of the Year award by her Bad Blood music video co-stars and close friends, Martha Hunt, Hailee Steinfeld, Gigi Hadid, Serayah, Lily Aldridge, Mariska Hargitay and Karlie Kloss, as well as the video's director, Joseph Kahn, and her collaborator, Kendrick Lamar.

Aside from winning awards, Swift also played presenter, giving Kanye West the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award to honour his career to date. During her speech she joked about the time he crashed the stage during her 2009 VMAs acceptance speech, as well as highlighting his influence on her career and his contribution to music.

West spoke about how fatherhood has changed him, saying that if he had been a dad back in 2009 he probably wouldn't have rushed the stage to ruin Swift's special moment. "If I had a daughter at that time, would I have went on stage and grabbed the mic from someone else's..." he said.

West added, however, that the only reason MTV asked Swift to present him with the award was to "get them more ratings".

Swift put another beef - or some Bad Blood - behind her too, taking to the stage with Nicki Minaj following their Twitter spat earlier this year. Their duet of Minaj's The Night Is Still Young opened the awards show, with the pair sharing a hug on stage at the end.

The VMAs also saw the world premiere of Swift's brand new music video, co-starring Scott Eastwood, for her single Wildest Dreams.
