Fear the Walking Dead, the new spin-off show from The Walking Dead, has set a new record for the most-watched premiere in US cable television history.

The show on cable network AMC, which debuted in the US on Sunday night, drew an audience of 10.1m viewers.

The record was previously held by AMC's Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul, which had an audience of 6.88m on its debut in February. 

Even before Sunday's broadcast, Fear the Walking Dead - a prequel to The Walking Dead's zombie apocalypse - was recommissioned for a second season in 2016.
