Amazon Studios, the film and TV division of the retail giant, is nearing a deal for the North American rights to director Whit Stillman's period comedy Love & Friendship, which was filmed in Dublin and stars Kate Beckinsale, Chloe Sevigny and Stephen Fry.
The film entered principal photography in Dublin last February and is expected to be released in cinemas next year.
Dublin company Bl!nder films was among the producers on the Irish/French/Dutch co-production, which also received funding from Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board.
Love & Friendship is an adaptation of Jane Austen's novella Lady Susan and follows Lady Susan Vernon (Beckinsale), a beautiful widow who visits her in-laws under a cloud of controversy and decides to find a new husband while there.
Sevigny plays Lady Susan's friend, Alicia, with Fry playing Alicia's husband, Mr Johnson.
US film industry website Deadline.com says that the deal would see Stillman continue his working relationship with Amazon after the pilot episode for his series The Cosmopolitans aired on Amazon Prime Instant Video last year.
Love & Friendship sees Beckinsale and Sevigny reunite with Stillman for the first time since their 1998 cult classic The Last Days of Disco.
