Ahead of its November release in Ireland, the Steve Jobs bipoic starring Irish actor Michael Fassbender has been given top billing at the upcoming New York Film Festival.
The Kerry native plays the lead role in the eagerly awaited drama about the legendary Apple co-founder which is directed by Oscar winner Danny Boyle.
Steve Jobs is split into three lengthy scenes and is set backstage at three Apple product launches, culminating with the launch of the iMac in 1998. It is based on Walter Isaacson's biography Steve Jobs and has been adapted for the screen by The Newsroom and The West Wing's writer Aaron Sorkin.
Kate Winslet, who plays former Macintosh marketing chief Joanna Hoffman had previously praised the Irish actor's performance and likened the demands placed on him dialogue-wise as being like "Hamlet, times two" due to the long passages of dialogue he had to commit to memory.
The all star cast also includes Seth Rogen, who portrays Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and Jeff Daniels stars as former Apple CEO John Sculley.
New York Film Festival Director and Selection Committee Chair Kent Jones said: "Steve Jobs is dramatically concentrated, yet beautifully expansive; it's extremely sharp; it's wildly entertaining, and the actors just soar - you can feel their joy as they bite into their material."
Director Boyle added: "I am honoured that our film has been selected as the Centrepiece of this year's festival. And thrilled and terrified too, unlike the subject of our film, who would have taken the whole thing very much in his stride.
"Steve Jobs was a thoroughly contradictory and complex character who forged our digital age... I hope that festival goers enjoy our take."
The film will be the centrepiece screening at the festival on Saturday, October 3.
