The 2014 Irish comedy The Stag is getting a Hollywood remake at a major movie studio.

The film, which was the directorial debut of John Butler, is being remade at Warner Bros. for American audiences.

Co-written by Peter McDonald, the film starred Andrew Scott, Hugh O'Conor, Peter McDonald, Brian Gleeson and Amy Huberman.

The Stag followed groom-to-be Fionnán (Hugh O'Conor) who would rather go on his fiancée Ruth's (Amy Huberman) hen than partake in any mad shenanigans, but is reluctantly persuaded to go on a quiet stag weekend to the countryside.

However, the peace is interrupted by the arrival of his wild brother-in-law Richard, aka The Machine (Peter McDonald).

The movie premiered at the 2013 Toronto Film Festival and was released in the US as The Bachelor Weekend.

Rob Walpole and Rebecca O'Flanagan of Treasure Entertainment served as producers on the original and will return as executive producers for the Warner Bros. remake.

It is not yet known which American actors will be filling the roles in the remake.
