Michael Douglas has said his son encouraged him to take on the role of Hank Pym in Marvel's latest outing, and told TEN that he was open to playing a superhero before Ant-Man, but he didn't get any offers.
"Nobody asked me. I would have loved to [play a superhero] especially because my buddies Danny DeVito played The Penguin (Batman Returns) and Jack Nicholson did The Joker (Batman) and they said how much fun they were. I said, 'Well, here I am'," he told TEN.
"Maybe I was too immersed in reality and in contemporary pictures that when Marvel came to me with this one, and my son didn't even let me finish the script, he just grabbed me and said, 'You got to do this'. But I was ready and excited. It's sort of like the circus – it's wide open, a lot of fun with all the special effects and the magic exists. It was everything I had hoped for and more."
