Star Wars: Episode VIII will shoot in Pinewood Studios just outside of London in the UK.
The British Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne announced the news today (May 4), tweeting: "Pleased to announce #StarWarsVIII will be filmed here in UK @PinewoodStudios – great news for @starwars fans & our UK creative industries."
The Rian Johnson-directed film follows in the footsteps of the upcoming instalment The Force Awakens, which also partially filmed in Pinewood Studios.
Filming on Star Wars: Episode VIII is due to start in 2016 and is scheduled to be released in 2017, while The Force Awakens will be out on December 18.
