There is a great disturbance in The Force - in a good way. The new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been shown for the first time this evening.

It was unveiled at the Star Wars Celebration fan convention in Anaheim in California, which was attended by director and saviour of the galaxy J.J. Abrams.

This is the first new taste of what's in store in the rebooted franchise since last November's 88-second teaser clip.

The Star Wars Celebration event is available to view via a live stream online by logging onto StarWars.com. The event concludes this Sunday at 3:30pm PST (11.30pm GMT).

Diehard fans were already in line for the Star Wars Celebration yesterday morning (Wednesday), a full 29 hours before the opening ceremonies.

Vanity Fair magazine reports that J.J. Abrams made sure nobody went hungry during the long overnight wait. He and Star Wars producer Kathleen Kennedy bought pizza for 1,500 patient fans.
