Nicola Peltz and Peter Dinklage are in talks to join Christian Bale and Rosamund Pike in Deep Blue Goodbye.

James Mangold is directing the project which is an adaptation of the John D. MacDonald mystery-adventure books about Travis McGee, a bachelor living on a house boat who acts as a "salvage consultant".

The big screen version will see Bale play McGee, who has been reimagined as an Afghan war veteran who is on the trail of stolen sapphires, leading to a sadistic torturer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dinklage will play a mathematician who ends up as McGee's sidekick, while Peltz will play a woman who hires McGee to find the sapphires.

Deep Blue Goodbye is scheduled to begin shooting in May.
