Sarah Silverman has revealed that she was offered an audition for Mad Men but turned it down.

The comic met Mad Men star Jon Hamm when he guest starred on The Sarah Silverman Program in 2007. She recalled a phone call she received from Hamm, asking if she would be interested in playing one of his love interests in the series.

WENN quotes Silverman as saying: "He got this pilot, and I remembered he called me, and he said, 'I think there's a part in it that would be good for you. You should come audition for it. It's, like, a Jewish department store owner'. And I was like, 'Jon, I have a show. I'm the star of it'. So I blew that."

The role of store owner Rachel Menken went to Maggie Siff, who appeared in the series for two seasons.

The final season of Mad Men will come to a close this May.
